About

Water Demand GIS is a web mapping platform that models household water consumption against local supply. Users enter their daily water routine and see how much water would remain in their area.

It turns abstract consumption data into a clear, location-based picture that encourages smarter water use.

Challenge

  • People rarely understand how their daily habits affect local water supply.
  • Water data is spread across sources and hard to interpret.
  • Results needed to be shown on a map, by area, to feel relevant.
  • The tool had to be simple enough for anyone to use.

Timeline

Deployment and model refinement.

Our approach

  • Modelled water demand from everyday routines like showers, laundry, and cooking.
  • Stored and queried spatial data in PostgreSQL for area-level results.
  • Visualised remaining supply on an interactive map.
  • Built a simple sign-in and dashboard on Next.js.
